The Legend of Santa Owl, by Dvora Swickle has to be one of my favorite Christmas reads this season.
The book starts out with a wonderful poem. A squirrel named Norman with a handful of nuts is running to visit his friend Ollie Owl. He of course trips over something and it is a beautiful glittery ball. Ollie has no idea what the glittery ball is so he fly’s to local farm to find out. Norman takes the ball home. Ollie looks in the window and sees a tree with no root all glittered and twinkling all around. The Mr. and Mrs. pulled out a box with glittery balls to place on the tree. He hears a poem about placing on tree and it will bring gifts on Christmas Eve. Owl fly’s back to Norman’s house and informs him. Norman hangs the ball in his tree home and went to bed and dreams of goodies. Owl watches at window waiting for Santa. But Christmas is for humans no animals he learns. They laughed. Ollie left sad and a tear in his eye, then he heard a ho ho ho and a gift floats down, which he catches. Ollie took the gift to Norman’s house for him to open. After that night Christmas is for animals too.

A little about the Author Dvora Swickle. From Website
Dvora Swickle (D. A. Johnson) lives in the quaint fishing village of Gig Harbor, Washington, where the grass is green, trees are tall, and animals roam free. Dvora has entertained children for over twenty years. She has written over forty stories, and is the author of two poetry collections, Dress Up (available in paperback) and an ebook, Kittywampus. Also available on Amazon, Lit’l Gobble, Fudnickle Brown, and The Worm Story.Dvora encourages young children to develop a life-long love for language and reading. She believes that poetry can play a big role in motivating children to read. “Poetry helps young readers understand language, words and feelings through rhythm and rhyme.
Children feel comfortable with poems because it’s like playtime with words.” ~ Dvora Swickle
Dvora believes that experience is the gift of learning; all children should live bully free, and learn confidence in their own special ways. Her stories are a lovely reading experience with the gift of a life message inside for the children. As a children’s storyteller, Dvora enjoys reading to children, she puts fun voices to her characters, and invites the children to take part. Every time she reads Sweet Green Grass children are encouraged to raise their hands, ask questions, and become a part of the story.
Dvora drove school bus for ten years, and now works with special needs children. She is devoted to helping students ages 18 to 21 to transition from high school into the work community and independent living
Hope you will take a look at her books and enjoyed the Adventure, WB,
